The Missing was a physically demanding shoot for Jones and the rest of the cast and crew, given that the majority of it was filmed on outdoor sets in the New Mexico wilderness. While Jones is an accomplished horseman - he lives on a ranch near San Antonio and is a passionate polo player - but the the forces of nature have taken their toll on Jones.
