On Batman Forever as the Riddler - Robin Williams was still in negotiations for the part when the producers decided to offer it to Carrey. Needless to say, Williams was a bit pissed, which mostly represented just how far Carrey had come. It was reported that Tommy Lee Jones was a bit put off by Carrey's over-bubbly manner on the set, and one day Jim's incessant cane-twirling actually hit Tommy Lee Jones in the nuts. Ouch. Val Klimer said "You should have seen Tommy collapse and fall to the floor as he rolled over into the fetal position, with his eyes rolling into the back of his head.  I think I saw saliva running out of the corners of his mouth as he tried not vomit.  He let out some moans and I think I heard some screams as he went down, that is why I went running to see what happened to Tommy.  Tommy slowly peered up at Jim and said "I'm going rap that f***** cane around your f***** neck and stuff it down your G** D*** throat if I ever get up off this floor!"

INTERNET NEWSGROUPS JIM CARREY
JIM CARREY: "Working with Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever is not one of my happiest memories. The night before my biggest scene he said some pretty nasty things, along the
lines of 'You're just a comic from cabaret and I'm a trained classical actor.' Sorry, Tommy Lee, your snide remarks didn't cut it. They only made me work harder and do a better job. But I'd rather not act in another movie with you anytime
soon."

JIM CARREY INTERVIEW
Maybe this is off the subject, but I talked with a guy last year--he was the DGA trainee on Batman Forever, Darrell Woodard--and he said that one day during a break, while the cameras were being moved and what not, Jim was sitting in his chair while the makeup girls were fawning over him... he cracked a joke and they started giggling madly.

What can we say - he's cute and he likes to flirt - and what Carrey fan woman wouldn't joke and flirt right back?

--when all of a sudden they heard "What the F*CK is the MATTER with you? Christ. You're like a F*CKING monkey. Show some integrity." Upon turning around they discovered Mr. Jones in full Two-Face makeup, waving a magazine towards Jim. Jim tucked his chin and said "Sorry, Tom--"  "'Sorry' ," Spat Jones... "Maybe
you should just walk off the set when I'm around, Tom. Maybe you oughtn't be around when I am because I only seem to cause problems for you."  came the heroic reply....
Jones then started muttering something and Joel Schumacher promptly took him aside and Jim got up and trudged off to his trailer. Woodard said this was one of the louder outbursts and the only one he could remember
verbatim... but frequently, Jones would get up and walk away when Jim would come by or make snide remarks when Jim'd do his schtick. Whatta schmuck, eh?
You heard it first~~ ;)

Actually, I admire Jim for not really digging into Mr. Jones (I know I probably would've taken a few verbal shots at him...). I like Tommy Lee's work - he IS a fine actor, but that kind of behavior looks to indicate a few other issues were buggin' him. As for Jim, going into the
trailer and getting away from Tommy was a good move - it kept him out of the "bad guy" side of the spat.

According to interviews, JC and Tommy Lee had words during the filming of BATMAN FOREVER.  In an interview in last June's MovieLine, Carrey said that Jones remarked that
Carrey was more like a sideshow act while he [Jones] was a 'real actor.' There are sparks, but whether or not it would translate into the performance is another matter.
